Alright! Welcome to the Karma system!
Karma is a system which has been enabled so that you can get revenge on those that treat you rudely or reward you for being nicely.
Basically everyone starts at 0. This means you have no good or bag karma.
Now let's take a look at the two words right next to each other.
Exalt and Smite.
Shall we define these words?
exalt |igˈzôlt|
verb [ trans. ]
hold (someone or something) in very high regard; think or speak very highly of : the party will continue to exalt its hero.
• raise to a higher rank or a position of greater power : this naturally exalts the peasant above his brethren in the same rank of society.
• make noble in character; dignify : romanticism liberated the imagination and exalted the emotions.
ORIGIN late Middle English : from Latin exaltare, from ex- ‘out, upward’ + altus ‘high.’
So in short. Exalt is a good thing right?
Next
smite |smīt|
verb ( past smote |smōt|; past part. smitten |ˈsmitn|) [ trans. ] poetic/literary
strike with a firm blow : he smites the water with his sword.
• archaic defeat or conquer (a people or land) : he may smite our enemies.
• (usu. be smitten) figurative (esp. of disease) attack or affect severely : various people had been smitten with untimely summer flu.
• ( be smitten) be strongly attracted to someone or something : she was so smitten with the boy.
noun archaic
a heavy blow or stroke with a weapon or the hand.
DERIVATIVES
smiter |ˈsmaɪdər| noun
ORIGIN Old English smītan [to smear, blemish,] of Germanic origin; related to Dutch smijten and German schmeissen ‘to fling.’
...Do you get the point?
If you don't like something someone did to you you smite them. If you really like how nice a person doing you exalt them.
Let's say a two users have differnt numbers.
User1 has a: 45
User2 has a :-38
Who has the better Karma?
User1 of course, he has a postive 45. that means People have exalted user1 at least 45 times.
Meanwhile User2 is probably a buttface and is rude to members or people might not like this user all that much.
Now the Karma system is not perfect. People may find a way to cheat the system. Don't take it too seriously. Especially if you have done nothing wrong and you happen to have a really low number in karma. the staff pays no real attention to the karma. that is basically a user thing. However, if a member is getting a low karma because of harassment, bullying, godmoding, etc. Then the staff will look into and punish the user appropriately.
I hope this short guide helped you!
